'Brightondachs' was formed in September 2009 by Honey's ‘mum’ Sara Morrissey. Sara started the website and 'Sunday Sausage-Meets' as a result of meeting a growing number of wonderful Dachs and their owners in and around Brighton.
Honey is Sara and her husband Patrick's first dog... and they both found the Dachshund forum a really great place to meet, chat and seek advice from other owners, and it naturally felt like starting a local social group would be a great idea.
They both run a graphic design studio, Unlimited, in the heart of the North Laines and Honey spends her days with them there... Honey's older half-brother, Chester, is only a street away at Badger clothes store on Bond Street. His 'mum', Tanya, has been invaluable in collecting the contact names and numbers of numerous Dachshunds and their owners as they pass by the shop and see Chester lounging in the window amongst the UGGs and Birkenstocks!
The 'Sausage-Meets' are a great opportunity for the dogs to socialise and have fun with others of a similar size and character, and also the owners to meet and share advice and tips, and sometimes even share a Sunday Roast/pint together after!
Even in the short time it has been going, firm friendships have formed (both for dogs and owners!) with lots of the owners all working in the creative industries and having found lots in common as well as their Dachs!
The website Sara has set up has already become a helpful tool in everyone communicating with each other and creating a fun local Dachs network. Frankie's 'mum' and 'dad', Laura and Tom, run Genie Print - again, only a street away! - printed up some Brightondachs business cards, which are constantly being handed out to new owners they all meet!... The numbers at each meet are rapidly growing, and they hope it continues to do so!
